Flowers and houseplants: 4 tips

Flowers and plants enrich and give vitality to an apartment. To take best care of it you need to follow some precautions. Here is a small guide that we have prepared that may be useful to you.

1. Choose the right location

You may have thought at least once that it would be good to place a plant in a specific corner of your house but then you realized that it wasn't the right choice, for various reasons. You must first of all find the most suitable place for the plant so that it can get the best possible light, protected from possible heat sources and air conditioning. As far as light is concerned, there are plants that need a lot of light and others less. If, for example, you want to place a plant that requires a lot of light, you will have to place it with an east-west exposure. If instead your choice falls on a floral specimen that requires little light, a northern exposure is fineor, for a softer light, the south is ideal. The Ficus Benjamin is par excellence a house or office plant and requires with little light and minimal maintenance. It therefore represents the ideal choice for those who want to give a green touch to their home without too many problems.
Finally, and not to be taken for granted, avoid a place where animals or children would risk knocking it over. Repeated attacks do not benefit the plant!

2. The dimensions of the vase

If you have one or more floral arrangements in your home, over time these will need to be repotted because the vase could become too small and the plant risks growing outside of its container. Always remember to consider that the containers have a good opening towards the outside to facilitate air circulation.

3. The right amount of water

Too little or too much water are the most frequent causes of plant or flower mortality. Depending on the type of plant you must water it only when needed. A good rule to follow is that the water must not float on the pot and the soil must not be too dry either.
Furthermore, in view of winter it is better to humidify the plants by spraying water with a spray container.

4. Protection from parasites

Dust settles easily in the apartment and consequently also on the plants. Parasitic insects can nest in dust, so to prevent them from attacking your plants, you will need to clean them with a soft cloth. If the sickly appearance of your plants persists you will have to use insecticide or put them in the tub or shower, do a gentle wash and sprinkle them gently with warm water.
